Cash Falls slot: coins and counters in Outback Fortune

How to track reels in Cash Falls Outback Fortune

Contents

In the base game of Cash Falls Outback Fortune, each reel holding coins has its own three-spin remaining-spin counter (often called a timer, but it counts spins, not seconds). The counter sits below the reel: a subsequent coin on that reel resets it to 3. A full reel awards its coins and releases them; if its counter reaches 0 before the reel fills, its locked coins disappear.

This guide covers Outback Fortune only. Do not carry over amounts or the regular-symbol paytable from other Cash Falls releases. Even for Outback Fortune, RTP varies by casino configuration (details below).

Which base-game rules should you track?

Track each reel separately: its locked coins, their values, empty positions and remaining-spin counter. Filling one reel does not reset the other reels’ counters or protect their coins from disappearing.

The following rules and value ranges come from the official Cash Falls Outback Fortune rules.

Base-game ruleWhat to track
Reel capacityIn order: 4, 4, 6, 6 and 8 positions (4×4×6×6×8 = 4,608 ways to win in the rules); 28 in total
First coinLocks in place; that reel’s counter shows 3
New coin on the same reelResets that reel’s counter to 3
Spin with no new coin on that reelReduces its active counter by 1
Full reelAwards the coin multipliers and applicable jackpot meter values on that reel; its coins are no longer locked
Counter reaches 0 before the reel fillsThe locked coins disappear
Coin stacksBase-game stacks can contain 1, 2 or 3 coins; symbols behind them are not evaluated
Bet changeDisplayed coins are removed; returning to the previous bet restores them

A coin is a scatter symbol. Coin multipliers are expressed as multiples of the total bet. MINI, MINOR, MAJOR and MEGA are jackpot labels on coins, not fixed amounts.

ReelsCapacity per reelAvailable base-game coin values
1–240.5x–10x total bet and MINI
3–460.5x–20x total bet, MINI and MINOR
581x–20x total bet, MINI, MINOR, MAJOR and MEGA

These ranges do not replace the complete regular-symbol paytable. Check that paytable in the game for your current version and bet: the verified document does not include it in full.

Five conditional spins: one reel fills while another expires

On spin five of this constructed example, reel 1 fills and pays its coins, while reel 3 loses its coins because its counter reaches 0. These are independent events.

This ledger is a rules-derived reconstruction, not observed play, a representation of the game UI or probability evidence. Here, ● means a locked coin and · means an empty position. Other reels are omitted.

After spinReel 1: 4 positionsR1 counter / resultReel 3: 6 positionsR3 counter / result
1●●··3●·····3
2●●··2●●····New coin → 3
3●●●·New coin → 3●●····2
4●●●·2●●····1
5●●●●Full → payout and release●●····0 → locked coins disappear

The final row shows the coins immediately before the payout or removal. Once those results have been processed, neither reel has any locked coins left. Filling R1 does not reset R3’s counter to 3.

Five conditional spins on reels 1 and 3: reel 1 fills on spin 5 and pays its coins, while reel 3 reaches a zero counter and its coins disappear

How much do the coins on a full first reel pay?

Four coins worth 0.5x, 1x, 2x and 10x pay 13.5x total bet:

0.5x + 1x + 2x + 10x = 13.5x total bet.

At a total bet of 1 unit, the coin payout from this reel alone is 13.5 units. These values lie within the published 0.5x–10x range, with no rounding applied. The sum excludes regular-symbol wins, jackpot meter values and payouts from other reels. It is a payout, not net profit.

How to record the state after each spin

Use a separate short entry for each reel, such as R1 3/4, counter 2. This means reel 1 has three locked coins out of four possible positions, with two spins remaining on its counter.

Use this recording template:

R1 __/4 · counter __ · coins __
R2 __/4 · counter __ · coins __
R3 __/6 · counter __ · coins __
R4 __/6 · counter __ · coins __
R5 __/8 · counter __ · coins __

After each spin, check the result on screen and update every reel whose state has changed:

  • If a new coin lands, record its position and value, and set that reel’s counter to 3.
  • If no new coin lands but the reel has locked coins, record the decrease in its counter.
  • If the reel fills, record the payout and remove its coins from your locked-coin record.
  • If the counter reaches 0 before the reel fills, remove the coins that disappear.
  • Leave genuinely unchanged reels as they are.

This record helps keep the reels separate, but it does not reveal the probability of the next outcome.

How do free spins differ from the base game?

During free spins, coins have no three-spin countdown: they remain locked for the duration of the bonus. Under the selected Outback Fortune rules, three, four or five bonus scatters award 10, 12 or 15 free spins respectively, plus a payout of 1x total bet.

Bonus scattersFree spinsTrigger payout
3101x total bet
4121x total bet
5151x total bet

Free spins use a separate coin-value schedule:

ReelsAvailable coin values during free spins
1–20.5x–10x, 100x total bet and MINI
3–40.5x–10x, 100x total bet, MINI and MINOR
51x–10x, 100x total bet, MINI and MINOR

During free spins, a silver coin sits above each reel. When every position on a reel is filled with coins, its silver coin becomes active and displays a random total-bet multiplier. At the end of free spins, each reel’s coin multipliers are added to the meter below it, then an active silver coin adds a random number of extra total-bet multipliers to that meter—up to 100x. The extras can include only the MINI and MINOR jackpots. The distribution of these values is not published.

The bonus uses an alternate set of reel strips, and only coins are evaluated. Coins can land in stacks of 1 or 2, with a maximum of 2 coins per stack on a free spin.

The bonus ends when the free spins run out or all 28 positions are filled. Free spins cannot be retriggered during the bonus. Afterwards, the base game returns to the state it had before the bonus. The base-game three-spin countdown and immediate per-reel payout do not apply during free spins: reels are paid at the end of the bonus, as described above.

What can you observe, and what remains unknown?

You can keep an accurate record of the visible state, but you cannot calculate its expected value without the manufacturer’s mathematical data.

The official rules PDF used here gives a theoretical whole-game RTP of 95.92%. This is not hit frequency, a promised session return or the RTP of a particular coin state. The rules also state that every game outcome is independent and the chances are the same at the start of every game: locked coins do not raise the chance of the next coin, although the value of a state cannot be calculated without the manufacturer’s maths.

The official Pennsylvania (us-pa) help file for the same Cash Falls Outback Fortune game lists 93.85%. The RTP of the same game depends on the operator’s configuration, so check it in the game help in your casino. Read more about how RTP differs from volatility.

Can the volatility calculator evaluate these coins?

No. The ToolsGambling volatility calculator is a general scenario tool using an entered RTP and volatility class, not a Cash Falls calculator. It does not accept coin positions or reel counters, and Cash Falls is not listed in its database.

The tool has inputs for bet size, starting balance, spin count and maximum payout multiplier. However, its general assumptions are not Outback Fortune parameters: it does not model stack distributions, state transitions or jackpot probabilities.

The RTP slider runs from 90% to 99% in steps of 0.5 percentage points, so 95.92% cannot be entered exactly. The bigger issue, however, is choosing the right RTP for your casino’s configuration. Expected loss is calculated as:

Bet × number of spins × (1 − RTP).

Assumption: 500 spins at 1 unit per spinFormula result
RTP of 95.92%20.4 units
RTP of 93.85%30.75 units
Difference between configurations10.35 units
Error from rounding 95.92% to 96%0.4 units

With a constant 1-unit bet across 500 spins, the 10.35-unit difference between configurations is about 26 times the 0.4-unit error from rounding 95.92% to the nearest available slider setting, 96%. Finding the RTP of your casino’s configuration matters far more than entering decimals exactly. This is a formula comparison, not a session forecast or a calculation of a Cash Falls state.

The calculator’s “Hit Frequency” and “Survival Probability” outputs come from the preset for the selected volatility class, not from the Cash Falls rules.

Keep the two tasks separate: record each reel’s coins and counter from the screen, and do not use the general calculator to estimate the probability of filling a reel or the expected value of its current state.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

No—one official rules document gives 95.92%, while the Pennsylvania help file for the same game gives 93.85%. Check the game help in your casino.

The coin multipliers are added to the reel’s meter at the end of the bonus, and the active silver coin then adds a random number of extra total-bet multipliers up to 100x. Only the MINI and MINOR jackpots are possible among these extras.
